Python is a very popular programming language for doing text mining and natural language processing. The Natural Language Toolkit (NLTK) is a very popular suite of Python modules making the process of text mining easier.

This hands-on workshop is an introduction to the NLTK. It will demonstrate the installation of a Python distribution (Anaconda), a few Python helper applications, and a “Jupyter notebook”, demonstrating some of the functionality of the NLTK. By the end of the workshop you will have a working knowledge of Python and exposure to the inner workings of the NLTK.
