Creating Impactful Presentations

OPEN TO:
-Faculty -Graduate Students -Postdocs -Staff -Undergraduate Students

This workshop is designed to develop the ability to create impactful slide decks to enhance professional presentations. Whether you're presenting to the city council, or working in and around the emerging data science industry, a strong visual presentation can determine whether you 'get to yes' with your audience and stakeholders.

Participants will move from the founding principles of gestalt theories of design to storytelling techniques as we examine best practices for designing individual slides (including data-rich slides), and combining those slides into highly impactful presentations. No previous experience is necessary.

LEARNING GOALS:

  • Learn the theories of gestalt for designing impactful slides

  • Learn theories of narrative storytelling for presentations
