Dissertation Day Camp - Fall 2020

OPEN TO:
-Graduate Students

Dissertation Day Camp offers a full day of writing and research time. The day begins and ends with goal setting and goal assessment exercises to help frame the day and measure progress. Your goal is to practice the process of writing and research during the designated writing times and to build the habit of regularly assessing your progress and development. The camp availability is subject to change based on the pandemic status.

  • Face-to-Face Registrant session - NO LONGER OFFERED
  • Virtual Registrants
    • Will convene online via a Zoom connection link.
    • The event begins at 9:30 am so registrants are asked to be in-seat and ready to go.
    • Will mute their connections during work sessions or request a private/group breakout room via chat with all room members.
  • Day Camp Schedule
  • 9:30 am - 9:45 am - Goal setting and kick-off
    • Identify an accountability partner.
    • Share daily goals and challenges you intend to address with your work.
    • Use this link to sign up for a productivity consultation (limited availability)
  • 9:45 am - 12:15 pm - Morning Work Session
    • Individual or small-group worktime.
      • Small online groups may request online breakout rooms via chat within Zoom You will be automatically recalled at lunchtime.
    • Self-moderate breaks on your own during this time.
  • 12:15 pm - 1:15 pm - Lunch Hour - On your own
    • Small groups may request online breakout rooms via chat within Zoom to form virtual lunch discussions.
    • Return and be in-seat (virtual) and ready to go back to work at 1:15 pm.
  • 1:15 pm - 4:15 pm - Afternoon Work Session
    • Individual or small-group worktime.
      • Small online groups may request online breakout rooms via chat within Zoom You will be automatically recalled at lunchtime.
    • Self-moderate breaks on your own during this time.
  • 4:15 pm - Daily wrap up and plan next steps
    • Reconvene in person and virtually by 4:15.
      • Virtual break out rooms will be automatically recalled.
      • Find your accountability partner and prepare for discussion.
    • Create a notation for where your work will specifically begin at the time of your next research and writing session.
