Stata for Absolute Beginners

OPEN TO:
-Faculty -Graduate Students -Postdocs -Staff -Undergraduate Students

An introduction to Stata, a commonly used language for data and statistical analysis and visualization.

This introductory workshop aims to provide a quick “swimming” lesson to students, scholars, practitioners, and researchers who want to dive into the world of the statistical software Stata.

After this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Confidently navigate the Stata environment.
  • Create a new do-file and log file.
  • Write Stata code to load in, look at, and subset a simple Stata-format dataset.
  • Know where and how to get help.

This workshop is for you if you are curious about tools for analyzing your data, or if you’ve heard about Stata and want to know what it’s all about. No programming experience necessary – just bring yourself and a laptop!
